Summer Events in London: How to Get There Without Taking a Cab

Summer Events in London: How to Get There Without Taking a Cab

The part of a London event night that nobody plans properly is getting home. The show ends, everyone leaves at once, and suddenly the fare on your ride-hailing app has tripled. It's a familiar feeling, and it's an avoidable one.

Both Wesley properties are in NW1, and both are built around public transport rather than around it. That matters in summer more than any other time of year, when the city is running festivals, late-night gigs and Bank Holiday events that put tens of thousands of people on the move at the same time.

Staying near Euston

The Wesley Euston is a short walk from Euston station — one of London's major transport hubs, with Underground connections on the Victoria and Northern lines and national rail services from across the UK. For guests arriving from outside London, the hotel and the station are the same practical decision.

For getting to and from summer events, Euston's position in north-central London means most of the city is straightforward on the Tube. Hyde Park, the West End, the South Bank — all accessible without a cab, and with a clear route home at the end of the night.

Staying in Camden

The Wesley Camden Town is on Plender Street, two minutes from KOKO on Camden High Street. For guests coming specifically for Camden's music scene, that's the whole transport problem solved.

Notting Hill Carnival runs across the August Bank Holiday weekend — 29 to 31 August — and the Northern line from Camden Town connects directly to the stations serving the carnival route. You can be there and back without a taxi at any point in the evening.

Worth knowing before you go out

Check your return journey before you leave, not after. Last Tube times vary by line and night services only run on some lines on Fridays and Saturdays. The TfL Journey Planner is the most reliable way to check — it takes two minutes and saves a lot of hassle at midnight.

At major events like Notting Hill Carnival, some stations close or operate differently. TfL publishes specific travel advice ahead of large events and it's worth reading before the weekend.

The Wesley App gives guests digital concierge access during their stay — useful for having local information to hand when you need it.

A note on why this fits

The Wesley holds Green Tourism Gold accreditation and is recognised by Camden Council as a Carbon Champion. Getting around by public transport isn't just practical from here — it's consistent with how both hotels operate. We'd always rather guests arrived by train than by car, and the locations make that easy.

Both properties are cashless, so card only throughout your stay.

Book direct for the best available rate, and join Wesley Rewards for member benefits across both locations.
